It’s a Fine Day

Hey Guys and welcome back!

On the blog today I will be sharing more about Fine Day and the talented ladies behind this brand. Even though I’ve been an expat for the past 10 years I absolutely love to support small local businesses in my home country, South-Africa. So when a brand like Fine Day contacted me to collaborate, it was an obvious YES!

I was lucky enough to handpick a few gorgeous pieces from their new Autumn/Winter 2019 range that we are exclusively sharing today. The entire collection will be launching next week so keep a look out for more on their social media pages leading up to the launch.

But first, I’ve asked the ladies behind Fine Day to answer a few questions:

Tell us about Fine Day. The heart and soul behind the brand.

I love a fine day! You know what I mean? Beautiful blue skies and the African sun, spending it on a gorgeous white sandy beach or in the bush, a fine day always brings happiness!

The brand is inspired by that and the beautiful different landscapes we find in South Africa, all things pretty and the love of fashion. Our designs are basic, but beautiful, making you feel comfortable and pretty! We also believe in keeping it local.  All our garments are designed and made locally in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and we source most of our fabrics from fabric mills in South Africa.

Who are the faces behind Fine Day?

Myself, Jana Coetzer, and my business partner, Marlize Nel-Verwey.  I am a graphic designer and after spending a few years in New York City, I found my passion for fashion and design.  I started a kids clothing line about 4 years ago and after a few requests from mommies for a ladies clothing range, Marlize got on board and we launched Fine Day in September 2018.  Marlize is a civil engineer with a MBA degree, so she is the number cruncher in the business.  Although we both are involved in all aspects of the business we each bring our own expertise to the brand.

Your autumn/winter 2019 collection will be launching next week! What can people expect to see from this new range?

We are excited about this range! Our AW2019 range is a capsule collection which makes it easy to mix and match the garments.  We used toned down colours for this range like dusted pink, stone, denim blue and beautiful florals for our dresses.

Your website and online shop will also go live next week! Will your range be available to purchase in any stores in South-Africa?

Yes, we are looking forward to our website going live, but we also love our retailers!  The range will be available in shops in Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and other towns in South Africa.  We will list our stockists on the website.

How do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?

Happy! We want women to enjoy and embrace their femininity and feel happy about it.  Our clothes are designed to fit comfortably and look beautiful at the same time.

I really love this new range and it definitely makes me feel happy and comfortable! Many great wardrobe basics that can easily be styled with items in your own closet. It’s comfortable, practical and can be dressed up or down. These are all major plus points if you’re a mom like me.

To celebrate the launch of their website, online shop and new AW 2019 collection Fine Day is giving away a Gift Voucher Worth R1500 to one lucky lady!

To enter go to the Gooseberry Blog on Facebook or Instagram and follow a few easy steps. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, 20 February 2019 together with the launch.

Good luck and thank you so much for reading!
