Super excited to share this blogpost with you today! We had the opportunity to explore Holland last week for a few days and had the absolute best time. The last time we visited The Netherlands we only went to Amsterdam (loved!), but this time around we got to experience many more beautiful sights and places. We started off our journey at Efteling Fantasy-Themed Park in Kaatsheuvel for 2 nights. This place is so magical that I feel it deserves a post on it’s own! It’s a MUST DO with kids of all ages when you visit Holland and I look forward to sharing more of this with you soon!
Our next stop was Kinderdijk Windmills. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage sight that has 19 windmills nestled in the beautiful countryside of Holland. It’s a great place to spend a morning or afternoon. You can take a boat ride, hire a bike and cycle the pathway between the windmills and even explore one of the windmills from the inside. A great place to discover more about this unique country and its heritage.
Visiting Keukenhof Gardens and the flower fields in Lisse have always been a dream of mine. Walking in the fields surrounded by a sea of flowers was a surreal moment for me. We got up really early and arrived before anyone else was in sight. It was peaceful, calming, the smell of flowers was so fresh and the moment made me so happy!! I just gave all my worries and problems to God while wandering through the flower fields and I felt like a different person when we left. This is not something I usually share, but we’ve been praying for a long time for a little brother or sister for Liam. He will be such an adorable older brother and I know that God’s timing will be perfect for us. It was truly one of my best birthdays ever and I’m so lucky to finally tick it off my bucket list. I hope you love the photos as much as I do!
When visiting Keukenhof I do suggest buying tickets and your parking ticket online beforehand. This saved us so much time and worked brilliantly. You can buy your tickets online @Keukenhof. The tickets aren’t bound to a specific date, you just need to use it while Keukenhof is open usually end-March until mid-May each year. Try to go as early as possible in the morning to avoid the crowds and wear comfortable shoes! A day spent with my little family that I will always keep close to my heart.
If you’ve always wanted to visit Keukenhof PLEASE book your tickets for next year, it’s truly unique!!
Thank you so much for reading.
Lots of Love
